Untapped created an ecosystem to build, support and deliver leading autism employment programmes to help corporates and governments accelerate their ability to address critical talent gaps, whilst supporting autistic adults to build the skills and knowledge to establish sustainable careers.
Experis and Untapped teamed up to support the expansion of DXC Technology’s Dandelion Programme into the UK. The programme is designed to recruit people from within the autism community and provide the technical, workplace and life skills required to build a sustainable IT career.
In June 2021 we welcomed the first cohort of eight neurodiverse trainees working in Software Testing and User Experience (UX) to the programme in England. In June 2022 we welcomed the second cohort of seven neurodiverse trainees working in Software Testing and User Experience (UX) to the programme in Scotland. This partnership continues to successfully support candidates, providing them with the technical, workplace and life skills required to help build a sustainable IT career.
It is estimated that around 1 in 7 people (more than 15% of people in the UK) are neurodivergent, meaning that the brain functions, learns and processes information differently.
Gender balance is important in any profession, and never more so than in the road transport industry where currently only 1% of drivers are women.
That’s why, with the support of government, client partners and industry bodies, we launched the Women in Driving Development Pathway. Part of our Driver Academy, this programme is one of the ways in which Manpower is taking action to tackle the driving skills shortage and improve diversity within the logistics sector.
By supporting women to take part in the programme, we offer them all the necessary tools to launch a successful career as an HGV driver.
We’ve seen first-hand how entrants to the Academy can build up their driving capabilities and bridge into new roles in logistics. Now, by committing to supporting more women through this programme, as well as actively promoting the benefits that a career in driving can offer, we hope to help create a new pipeline of driving talent for our clients.
Manpower found me the ideal Class 2 role, from which I’m able to progress through to my Class 1. I've travelled most of the UK and I love it.
We introduced gender neutral CV’s that contained no pronouns of he/she/her/him etc. We also introduced CV anonymisation across all business areas. Names were replaced with a pre-populated reference number, which was traceable to the candidate application. The candidate name became known post interview selection.
All vacancies were advertised with a tagline: “Our client values diversity, and we welcome enquiries from everyone”
Analysis of results pre and post-anonymisation demonstrated our success factors.
There was a 43% increase in diverse workers being interviewed and offered (division 1)
Gender balance increased from 28% to 83%
There was a 20% increase in diverse candidates selected for interview (division 2)
46% increase in ethnic diversity interviews, including a 50% success at offer (division 1)
7% in ethnic diversity at interviews (division 2)
The work from the Experis team on inclusive recruitment has been a great proof of concept and delivered real value and has formed a key part of our Inclusive recruitment strategy.
