The NEO in all 9 Dutch sectors shows organizations expect an increase in staffing levels from July to September 2023.
Compared to the second quarter of 2023, hiring climates have strengthened in 5 of 9 sectors, and weakened in 4 sectors.
Compared to Q3 2022, hiring markets have weakened in 4 of 8 sectors, strengthened in 4, and seen no change in one sector.
The most competitive sector in the Netherlands is Industrials & Materials with a NEO of 51, increasing by 25 percentage points since the second quarter of 2023, and by 17 percentage points since Q3 2022.
This quarter is the highest NEO recorded in Industrials & Materials since we started tracking in Q1 2005.
In fact, the Netherlands ranks first globally for the Industrials & Materials sector's NEO, outpacing the 41-country average NEO by 23 points.
We see most job vacancies per 1,000 inhabitants at the age between 15-74 years are to be found within the Healthcare vertical.
Most job postings come from the transport, other industries, IT and industry verticals.
The least competitive sector in the Netherlands is Financials & Real Estate with a NEO of 17, decreasing by 4 percentage points since the second quarter of 2023, and by 21 percentage points since Q3 2022.
Yet, according to financial branch organizations this industry is steadily growing and sees revenues growing. Challenges lie in data security, upcoming immersive technology and required soft skills for those new technologies.
