Powering personal achievement into greater public success
Better paid, more meaningful and more rewarding work
Better paid, more meaningful and more rewarding work can create a positive personal/work/social cycle – benefiting individuals through greater job satisfaction and wellbeing, boosting organisations through increased productivity and retention, and helping society through positive contributions and progress.
We understand that personal achievement supports public and business success. Which is why our focus is aimed at helping more people into better paid, more meaningful and more rewarding work – goals that can produce multiple benefits, including:
Improved job satisfaction
Reduced turnover and better retention
Enhanced creativity and innovation
Improved financial stability
Higher levels of wellbeing
Positive organisational culture
Greater inclusion, equality and other social benefits.
Balancing work and personal life can be challenging, especially for young workers who may feel like they cannot bring their authentic self to work and feel isolated or alone.
To address this, ManpowerGroup UK created Working Mindset, a pastoral programme to help young employees (under 25) connect their work and personal selves.
The six-week programme is designed to foster a culture of openness through shared experiences and storytelling and focuses on self-discovery, self-management and self-growth.
By encouraging dialogue, Working Mindset promotes understanding and trust among co-workers, creating a more supportive workplace. The programme received a Highly Commended designation at this year’s Movement to Work Annual Awards and was so popular that it is now offered to any ManpowerGroup UK employee. Plans are being developed to adapt and expand the programme globally.
“Working Mindset has given people in our organisation confidence and skills that they can apply to both business and life. We are helping them develop a mental wellness toolbox that nurtures resilience and builds connection and trust with their colleagues.”
“It’s given me the ability to tackle problematic situations, not only in business but also in life, with slight adjustments of mindset and mental approaches.”
“Mindset is so important, almost like a superpower.”
“The fact that this programme exists in our business shows ManpowerGroup really does care about personal development, which is so important in the modern world of work.”
“The opportunity to train my mind, being resilient and remaining disciplined and motivated was priceless.”
The programme is targeted at creating 100,000 vocational training and work experience placements for 18-24 year olds who are not in education, employment or training (NEET). The placements are designed to deliver a wide range of positive outcomes, including developing new work skills and experience, gaining self-confidence and motivation, and entering or re-entering education or training.
Rahima Zakaria Bismillah, who came to ManpowerGroup through our successful Kickstart programme, secured permanent employment, and is now representing ManpowerGroup as a Movement to Work Youth Ambassador.
By signing up to the pledge, we have made a commitment to:
Provide 4-6 weeks employability training placements for NEETs equivalent to up to 2% of the company's UK workforce.
Link placements, where possible, to fixed-term and permanent jobs or apprenticeships.
Engage suppliers and clients in the programme, asking them to make the same commitment in order to create a nationwide multiplier effect.
Through a comprehensive curriculum that includes professional development, upskilling and tailored career guidance, the programme equips participants with the tools to advance their careers and unlock their full potential.
Whether it's refining existing skills or acquiring new ones, AccelerateYou is committed to fostering personal growth and career progression, helping individuals take the next step towards achieving their professional goals.
